I create a calm, reassuring space where you feel heard, respected, and never judged—whether you need practical guidance, emotional support, or simply someone to sit beside you. My role is to walk alongside you with warmth and understanding, helping you feel more confident, capable, and supported every step of the way.

I always provide a free initial video consultation so you can decide whether I’m the right doula for you and I offer services within a one hour radius of my home in Galleywood, Chelmsford, Essex.

Baby Wrapped in Blanket

Postnatal Doula Support

Gentle support for you, your baby and your new beginning

The early days and weeks with a new baby can be beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting and everything in between. You don't have to do it all alone. Postnatal doula care offers nurturing, practical and emotional support during the transition into life with your baby.

My role is to care for you, while you get to know and care for your baby. Whether you need a helping hand, someone to listen, practical support around the home, or simply reassurance that you're doing okay, I'm here to support you without judgement.

What postnatal doula support can look like

Every family is different, so your support is tailored around what you need on the day.

Support may include:

  • Emotional and practical support after birth

  • Helping you rest, eat and stay hydrated

  • Newborn care and reassurance

  • Feeding support and signposting, whether you're breastfeeding, bottle feeding or combination feeding

  • Supporting you as you learn your baby's cues and rhythms

  • Light household tasks to help make your day easier

  • Preparing simple nourishing meals and snacks

  • Helping you feel more confident in your parenting choices

  • Creating space for you to talk, process and be heard

  • Support with establishing gentle routines

  • Practical preparation for your recovery and wellbeing

  • Support for partners and the wider family

  • Signposting to appropriate healthcare and specialist services when needed

A safe space to find your feet

There can be so much pressure to know what you're doing straight away. But becoming a parent is a huge transition. It's okay to need support. It's okay to ask questions. And it's okay if things don't look the way you imagined.

Postnatal doula care provides a calm, reassuring presence while you find your own way. There is no judgement, no expectations and no one-size-fits-all approach. You and your baby are at the heart of everything we do.

Supporting the whole family

A well-supported parent is better able to rest, recover and respond to their baby's needs. Sometimes the most valuable support isn't another person telling you what to do — it's having someone alongside you who listens, reassures and helps you find what works for your family. Your partner can also benefit from having someone to turn to, particularly during those early days when everyone is learning together.

You don't need to wait until you're struggling

Postnatal support isn't only for when things become difficult. Having support in place before your baby arrives can give you peace of mind and create a stronger foundation for those first precious weeks. Whether you're planning ahead or have already welcomed your baby, you're welcome.

Your postnatal journey is your own

There is no perfect way to recover from birth, feed a baby, establish routines or become a parent.

My role is to meet you where you are, listen to what you need and provide practical and emotional support that helps you feel held, supported and more confident.

Happy Families

A Fantastic Choice

Cheryl was a fantastic choice of independent midwife for us and knowing we had her to support us in our pregnancy and birth choices meant our second birth was a very different to our first (‘NHS care only’ experience). We got to share what was a very special time in our lives as a family and Cheryl’s calm, confident, unassuming manner meant that I had the confidence to labour at home in a VBAC scenario with a 99+ centile baby.
